Maritime
Airpower for Australia Part three of a series on maritime airpower for Australia, world renowned naval expert and accomplished author, Dr Norman Friedman, examines the need for Australia to seriously consider its maritime nature and the value of the capability provided by the Littoral Support Ship (LSS) concept. It should be noted that the LSS is a concept and not a plan or acquisition 'wish'. The concept was borne out of a capability requirement of the ADF that has emerged in the past decade and currently filled by a number of platforms at a far more exorbitant price that what the LSS could be acquired and operated for, and with grater capability.
