"The Navy" Microfiche and Index Centenary 2000 Project

After several years of preparation and research the official Launch was held at State Library of Victoria in 2005 and gift sets of Microfiche copies of the Navy League Journal of NSW 1920-1946 and The Navy 1947-2004 with a specially prepared 1920-2004 Index have been gifted to National, State and other selected Libraries, Universities, RAN College and Sea Power Centre in Australia and to the United States Navy League and UK Greenwich Maritime Museum.

1H. Navy League Microfiche Project: Copying of all 1920-2004 journals and preparation of a consolidated Index now finalised. Copies of Index and Microfiche gifted to Australian National & State Libraries, selected Maritime institutions, Greenwich Maritime Museum UK and US Navy League.

Commodore Dacre Smyth AO Legion of Honour (Fr), RAN Ret'd designed and installed the two Australian Navy stained glass windows in the Mission to Seafarers' Chapel of St Peter the Mariner which were dedicated by Bishop Ashton on 1st March 2007,the 106th Anniversary of the Australian Navy's Foundation Day.

5: The Battle of Trafalgar 21st October 1805:
Sacrifice by Lord Nelson and many of the sailors who fought alongside him on HMS Victory and on the other 22 RN ships. Australia received a lasting legacy due to their bravery and success, for which Australia is eternally grateful.

HMAS Australia, attacked on 21 Oct., Trafalgar Day 1944, being the first Allied warship hit by a suicide aircraft. 26: SS Automedon Affair 1940. The British secret War Cabinet minutes of 1940 containing a UK Defence report that revealed the indefensibility of the Far East. Churchill's failed to warn his allies of this loss - the world's greatest intelligence disaster. Subsequently Australia recalled her troops from Africa, and so the planning for the 'Battle for Australia' commenced.
